Re: Two years later

I guess it is very much success! I know those first six months in the US are tough, when your credit doesn't travel with you, but you've definitely made up for lost time. Nice work.

Re: Two years later

Super success!!

Now, just remember, that some mortage bankers don't like to see *too much* available credit when you are applying for a mortgage.  If that should be the case...I'll be happy to take some of those cards off your hands!! Smiley Tongue

Re: Two years later

Looks like you'll achieve your mortgage goals easily, Wmarat. I wish you luck there. Keep in mind the stricter standards when you do apply, though (20% down - somehow, probably $3-4k in closing costs, verifiable employment and income (usually 2 years of tax returns and 2-3 months of pay stubs, credit score of probably at least 700).

Out of curiosity, though, how did you score the Saks World Elite MC and an Amex Blue limit of $5k? I recently applied for an Amex card with a score of 725 and got all of $1k - that's about as useful as the proverbial solar-powered flashlight. I was under the impression the World Elite (part of the Black card series) was only meant for those willing to cough up huge annual fees, have six-digit incomes, and long-established credit history. Does your Saks carry an annual fee? I keep trying to convince Chase to expand their Freedom product line to include the World Elite as opposed to just the World and Platinum.

Re: Two years later

Well, my Amex Blue now at 15K. I charge on it no more than $400 - $500, always PIF before statement cut and do not use it where Amex might consider it risky. Initial CL was $2400, CLI on 60 days to $5k (12/07) and CLI at 6 mos mark to $15k (06/08). I am not going to request CLI any time soon.

I got Saks Elite only because lounge access. No AF, APR is 11.99%, never used conciierge services, shop at Saks rarely (3 times in last 6 mos.). I do have 6-digit income, but short credit history. I am about to call regarding CLI.
