Using coupons?

Anyone seen an increase in either their own or in their community's usage of grocery coupons?  I'm curious how people's shopping habits have changed (or not changed!)

Speaking for myself, I have definitely increased our usage, & gotten myself more organized by reading on online forums for great ideas.

Re: Using coupons?

YES!  In the last year and a half or so, I've used coupons and double coupons from local stores A LOT.

Saved myself a BUNCH of money.

Totally easy and worth it!

i totally agree!  i don't know why more people don't do it.  they should at least give it a chance to fail before they say it doesn't benefit them.

Re: Using coupons?

I have the good fortune to shop at the commissary where the savings are already 30 - 75% off the economy prices.  They allow coupons also so that is an extra blessing.  The really good things is I only buy for myself now and not for a family of 3.

Yesterday I had to get my dog food and they had a $1 off coupon for 5 cans of dog food.  Paying $2.95 versus $3.95 is always better.

you know, when i was in the military, i shopped at the commissary a few times.......i wasn't really impressed with their prices.  maybe it's just because the cost of living in san diego is so much higher than the cost of living here at home Smiley Happy

yea, shopping for just you is always cheaper than shopping for a household!  but i love the challenge of keeping our expenses down.

Not everything in the commissary is going to save money but, the majority of items will.  The local prices should have nothing to do with the prices in the commissary.  I could be wrong about that.

What I do know is I can get a gallon of milk in the commissary for $1.50 and the cheapest I can find it off base is $2.  Not a huge savings but it helps.
