I guess it depends on where you live.  And what you are wanting to send. 

The order takers you listed are just that.  they just send the order to a local florist and take a cut off the top.  The local florist is who puts the bouquet together.

Have you thought of doing something unique?  Like a cookie bouquet, or a chocolate bouquet, or a fruit bouquet?  I think one of them is called incredible edibles, but i might be off.

we have crappy local florists....a lot of them even have the same website & the same products!  they don't even try to change it up.

my gf doesn't really like sweets; she's a big flower girl.

I'm a reseller for one of those....my opinion would be biased.

If you use one of those you listed, then your flowers are going to come from the local florists you don't like.  Honestly, you can't go wrong with just a bunch of roses.  That should not be too hard to get from a local place, or through one of those you listed.

roses are boring & cliche.  i was really hoping people would have some good ideas.  i'll ask on another forum.  thanks anyway.

Never underestimate the power of a single rose.    My husband just brought me one for my birthday.  A single red rose, and it made my day!!

OK,  Fun story,

We had ordered flowers for our wedding.  We were married 2 days after valentines day.  After valentines day we received mangled flowers.  The leftovers.  We complained.  Not only were the flowers replaced in time with fresh ones, we received the entire order for free.   Pure chance and good luck.

However through this process and seeing what prices do.  Plan to celebrate valentines day after the actual event.  Buy the flowers from a local florist.  You will get much better pricing.

A lot of the online florists come next day mail, not from the locals.

Also, try Martha Stewart, last time I looked, they had some beautiful arrangements...don't know if they go thru the mail or local.

I may be unique (and maybe why I don't have a significant other ) and although I love fresh flowers, I would probably prefer a plant, something like an orchid, exotic and mysterious -- lasts a lot longer (hopefully!).  I also send a lot of bulb gardens, where you grow it once you get (yeh, probably not really romantic).

But to tell you the truth, the best Valentines present I could get right now would be some work around the house, ceiling fans put in, doggie door put in, etc. Or, to have my honey cook a wonderful dinner for me (and clean up!).

Guess I am not a romantic....and I guess every realtionship is different.  Try at your own risk!!!

that's what i thought!  my orders have always come from fedex or dhl.

well, we aren't the most responsible people with plants...i think the only reason her bamboo hasn't died is because it doesn't need a lot of care!

yeah, she's a super duper deluxe romantic (i'm not, i hate valentine's day), but i don't want to get her roses year after year.  it gets old, even to girls who like roses, you know?
