Well, I feel dumb...

I am still stuck carrying a small credit card balance from month to month, about $2,000 (but decreasing, little by little each month!). But it's not affecting my util% too badly, it puts me at about 10%. Anyways, for the last month I've been carrying that balance on what I thought was my lowest APR card, which is 19%.

I got a Freedom Unlimited almost a month ago, and I remembered seeing that the APR I was approved for was higher than 19%... something like 24%, I wanna say. So I opted to leave the balance where it was, on the 19% card.

I didn't realize (or maybe I did realize, but forgot!) that the FU comes with 0% intro APR on purchases and balance transfers for 15 months. OOPS!

How in the world did I miss (or forget) that?!?

I guess it's a good thing I eventually noticed! Otherwise I'd be paying monthly interest for at least the next year, when I could be living interest-free and just enjoying racking up points! Better late than never.

If you're using the FU for purchases & points earning, you may not want to carry your 0% balances on it also.

I typically only do one or the other . . it gets murky when using a card for purchases and balance promo and depending on how they apply payments, you can often end up paying interest anyway.

I'm using it for points-earning as well, but my $5,600 CL gives me enough room for that plus carrying the balance. The 0% APR applies to both new purchases and balance transfers, so there's no murkiness as long as 1) I don't take any cash advances, which aren't covered by the 0% offer, and 2) I make sure to PIF at some point before my 15 (now 14) months is finished.

I think I could, but instead I'm just going to charge my $1,900 rent to the FU next month, and then immediately PIF the other card that was carrying the balance with interest. Still get the 0% APR, while earning 3% back and paying no BT fee Smiley Very Happy
