I thought CCC's check your sigs each time to make sure someone didn't sign your name in a differrent way.
No, the company that charged your card keeps it on file to prove that you made a purchase.
So, "signing" using a persona other than yourself could potentially aid in fraud. However, very few frontline associates will bother making an individual re-sign a slip.

Yeah, I've always assumed it was kept on file in case there is a dispute or investigation in the future. Im sure we could sign scribbles that dont even remotely resemble what's signed on the back of the card, and have no problem.
