Where is everyone from?

I'm curious to see where some of our top members are from. (If a particular state or area has a foothold here)

@BrutalBodyShots @Thomas_Thumb @FicoMiko @Patient957 @NoMoreE46

these are just some of the people off the top of my head that I thought of in 30 seconds feel free to link more people if you are also curious

also if you are not comfortable disclosing where you're from I completely understand that's fine too

Re: Where is everyone from?

Chicago area now. Indiana originally.

Chicago is not as bad as people say it is. One thing that makes everyone I know back in Indiana gawk is... rent is horrible, but recently when the car finally crapped out I realized I didn't actually need one.

Dave Ramsey says people average $1,113 a month for transportation on average (which means some pay more than that, it's just an average). Mine costs $0.

Some people say the crime. It really just depends on where you're at and how well they police that area. Most of the parts I've lived in are safer than rural Indiana, on a per capita basis, according to the FBI.

Some people say "taxes", yes it's true they like to tax everything here, but there are also services (like transit). Almost everyone has some kind of health insurance, even if it is just the government, or free care for the uninsured. Indiana was rife with Health Departments that couldn't even do a basic test for STIs, much less comprehensive primary care.

I like the fact that people don't like at....other kinds of people as-if we were being invaded by Martians.

Chicago, yep, I'll die on that hill. Smiley Happy

@SRT4kid93  So you start a thread soliciting information, but you refuse to disclose first.

Ummm...yeah...that really makes sense. 🙄

Re: Where is everyone from?

@millionsofmiles

First of all, there are 2 ways to say something.

1)Politely and correctly

2) rude, sarcastic, and obnoxious for no reason other than to try to get a rise out of people or be a jerk because you feel you are safe due to the anonymity of the internet.

you fall into category 2, there was absolutely no reason for that kind of response, you could have made your point without being a jerk.

But in a nutshell, Yes exactly, there's absolutely no point in saying where I'm from if everyone else is just going to ignore the thread/not disclose.

I can't tell you how many times I seen threads started and everyone completely ignores the original subject matter. (Exactly like you just did)

you didn't add anything to the discussion, you didn't answer my question, you completely ignored the original subject, and chose to only comment to try to attack me/shame me.

so thank you for proving my point. I genuinely don't understand the point of coming onto a forum, which is designed to answer questions, and contribute to threads, and then by refusing to contribute, you actually do the exact opposite. And you make it worse by being genuinely unpleasant for absolutely no reason.

why should I be the only one disclosing where I'm from? Why should anyone be the only one? That doesn't seem fair.

I also made it very clear that if they didn't feel comfortable sharing, they didn't have to. They saw I hadn't yet disclosed my location, and were able to make a choice if they wanted to share anyways. I didn't hold a gun to anyone's head.
