Hello All,
This is my first post. I've lurked in the forums for quite some time, and finally mustered up the courage to make an account and post.
So I've successfully completed Student Loan Rehab, and the entries from the Department of Education have vanished. All the loans that defaulted were picked up by a new lender, which date back to the beginning of the original tradelines of the defaulted loans. I was hoping that the original tradelines would disappear, but they haven't (I know they don't have to remove the original tradeline, but I was hoping they would). So I have the original tradeline that has the default entries, and the new lender loans that have the same dates as the original tradelines, but in good standing with no lates. I read a post where someone recommended disputing it as a duplicate entry. So far, that hasn't worked. Does anyone have any suggestions on what i should do to get the original tradelines removed. They are with Nelnet and Sallie Mae. I'm really desperate and discouraged. I would really appreciate anyone's input. Thank you to anyone that replies.
how long have you waited? i know some people have had to wait months before the original lines go away.
I completed rehab in July. The Department of Education entries didn't disappear until the beginning of this month. Well, the Department of Education entries for 2 credit beaureaus came off, I'm disputing the 3rd one. The original tradelines are still there for all 3, though.
it's hard to say. no one has to been able to figure a specific timeline for when these things drop off. i hope they drop off soon for you ![]()
the same thing is going on with my loans. it hasn't been a problem for me, though. i was able to get a usda home loan because i could show that i'm rehabilitated and have been paying on time since then. i have no idea how long it will take for the old loan account to disappear.
