I owe $19,000 pay each month $295 - no late in a year now the new website myedaccount.com transitioned. First they took out my payment from checking as expected but posted zero and I was past due. Currently onall three credir bureaus no payments reported since August but "pays as agreed" until today. Equifax reports closed account due to activity. Closed owing $19,000. That can't be good but I've been trying for days all day to reach a person. My next debit is due next week but posting zero pays, past due when paid and closing accounts does not make me want them taking another 295 whrn it is a mess and say I haven't ever made a payment (website) ever....
Anyone else?
I was able to log into the new website 2 weeks ago and scheduled my payment. It was supposed to be debited from my account yesterday but was not. Trying to contact the customer service department has been fruitless and I've been disconnected numerous times. I have never been late on my student loan payments. I will fight tooth and nail if they try to levy a late fee against me or report me as being late to the big 3 bureaus due their lousy service and mistakes.
I was able to get through by calling 1-800=848-0979. Sat on hold for 20 minutes but did talk to someone. She says their new policy is not to report any lates until 90 days.
I have had headaches with the transition as well. My automatic loan payment is $396.32. That's what comes out of my account every month. This month, however, they took out $396.31.
I have tried to contact them over this penny...but I have yet to get a live person. My fear, of course, is that I will show 30-days late over a penny.
The website now says that I have zero past due and that my next payment is $396.31 (the lower amount)....so.....it appears that I'm OK. I'm going to give up trying to reach a live person and trust the website that I am OK with the lower amount.
What a mess. I emailed their customer service days ago, but no response.
Hi
I spoke to a service rep yesterday from direct loans. She said that since they had changed systems that everyone's account would show closed, but that within 30 days, all accounts would be back up again. I also copied all account changes sent to me though my credit alerts and mailed them to direct loans to show them what was happening. I was reassured that within 30 days all will be well. I know to see it is to believe it, Right???? I also noticed a 2 point drop on credit Karma fako score due to closure of direct loan for this month.
I absolutely HATE their new website. First of all you can not actually tell that you are really enrolled in the auto-debit program. When my loan first boarded on the system it showed as past due even though I had made the payment on the old loan, now it's showing next due for the 11/28 payment but nothing has drafted my bank account yet for the 10/28 payment and when I click on the My Payments it says their records indicate I have not made any payments on the account and I'm still accruing interest daily at the higher principal amount. I hope they get this site figured out soon or they are going to have a lot of very unhappy customers calling! There was nothing wrong with the old site, they should have just left it alone!
My loan is in grace period until January 2012. I scheduled my first Kwikpay to begin at that time. The loan program "accidentally" withdrew my payment one month early! I talked to three people, including a supervisor. They agreed it was their mistake, but could only issue a repayment check which would take over 3 months for me to receive. They could not reverse their withdrawal of my money. The told me to put a stop payment on the payment. So I had to go into my bank, pay $30 to stop a payment that was never approved. I can now send them a letter asking for them to pay that $30-but the supervisor said it would take close to 3 months for them to send me that!
I wonder if this is happening for all graduates from June whose payments come due in January. How can they legally take money without warning and not be able to pay it back. It caused an incredible financial hardship-overdrew my account, and they can only say they are adjusting to the transition??
Well, it's been nearly two months since the promise that all would be straightened out. Experian and TransUnion both have my DOE Direct Loans Closed. Equifax is reporting correctly now. Don't know when the others will follow suit but now Direct Loans website has changed my payment from 300 to 195 a month and did something where I am set up for another 10 years of payments which appears to be some kind of refinancing. I have not received anything in writing. I don't know who owns the loan anymore... Anyone else?
Ohhhhhh, I feel your pain. Made a payment before the transition and it doesn't show up anywhere. No one seems to know where it is even though I have the printout from my billpay. Put in for a 12mo forebearance so the dust could settle on the transition and I could wait for 2012 to finish consolidating only to find that the rep I talked to (since I could not access the website for ANYTHING) only put it in for one MONTH. And...took me off the IBR plan, so suddenly I owed them 2 monthly payments totalling over $800. EQ finally started reporting, but in addition to my 2 open loans (one sub, one unsub), they are also reporting one for $2 and one for $.97. I kid you not. Icing on the cake...I disputed w/ EX and TU a series of lates back in 2005 when it was in forebearance/deferment, had them deleted, only to have it show up on EQ. It's like herding cats with these people. I finally sent a detailed letter CMRR with all of my documentation in hopes they can pull their heads out and get it sorted so I can finish my consolidation before June.
I am a direct loan rep. First of all there are no late fees currently charged on any accounts and now credit reporting wont start until 90 days past due. So don't worry about a grace period...no account will be negatively impacted!
Second of all, both sites had to be off line because its impossible to deactivate one site when people are still on it. Information from the old site had to be transferred to the new site. And even if the web worked? We can't process a payment on the account until the entire system worked...
I have been taking general info calls since the outage which started September 30 @ 8pm and its not fun for us either. Coming in to work Monday morning to find out about glitches over the weekend wasn't fun either. So I understand how every one feels but also understand our point of view and please don't be mad at the reps. This change affects us and our pay and now we have to learn an entirely new system.
Just hang in there everyone and bear with us.
