Navient - Attempting to Prove Navient's Misinformation

I had recently reviewed student loans for my significant other that are being serviced by Navient. In setting up a loans spreadsheet for her, I have all information from Navient as of the date that I reviewed the loans and noted a "Payment Start Date/Deferment Ending Date" of July 21, 2016. However, just the other day, my significant other received an email from Navient saying that the loans were three months past due and began on November 10, 2015. The spreadsheet that I have is extremely detailed and is essentially a data dump from Navient at the time that I reviewed the loans on the Navient website. Unfortunately, I do not have any proof that the July 21, 2016 date came from the Navient website.

WIth all of the above said, is there anyway that I could get this as an account history from Navient? I even have specific "Outstanding Interest" dollar amounts provided by Navient in this spreadsheet as of the date that I reviewed them - I figure having specific "Outstanding Interest" which accrues daily can get us back to that specific day in time and on the path of obtaining account history which shows this original "Payment Start Date/Deferement Ending Date" of July 21, 2016.

Thanks for reading the rant and any help/advice/thoughts on the issue.

Cheers!

Re: Navient - Attempting to Prove Navient's Misinformation

It sounds like you should call Navient and ask for details about the deferment and why it did not last as long as you anticipated.  What type of deferment was it?  If it was an in-school deferment, did your wife's enrollment status change?  If not, it's possible that the school reported that it did accidentally, which would trigger the deferment to end.

Navient should be able to walk you through when the deferment was applied, what type it was, and why it was ended.  Once you have that information, you can try to fix whatever caused the issue.

Re: Navient - Attempting to Prove Navient's Misinformation

I just called Navient today about discrepancies on my credit reports. According to Navient I had stretches of good payment history (was actually in forbearance) and then it would jump to 90 days late, many more months of Good payment, then 90 day late. Over the phone they gave me a list of dates that I was in forbearance, all which covered the dates they are claiming I was 90 days late. I asked for a summary of my account, showing all dates of forbearance or deferment. I'm going to review when it comes and send off to CRA so my reports get updated.

I also have the same loan reporting 4 separate times, each showing lates. So rather than just one messed up account I have multiple showing.

Don't they allown yoi to have online access? They should provide you with the payment history of the account that would entail when the loan went into deferment, etc.

Also you can check by signing onto the Student Finance Aid. You should have an FSA ID already.
