I am currently experiencing issues with Navient regarding a Sallie May answer loan. I recently requested/obtained a copy of the application and promisary note. I reviewed and have some concerns regarding my liability regarding the loan. I have successfully removed the reporting from my experian report, but continue to have issues with EQ and TU. I have searched to get more information on the meaning of a "student borrower". The loan was originated by my Father (Sr) and my Mother is listed as a Co-signer on the loan. I am listed only as the "student borrower". My understanding is that I am listed on the loan simply to verifiy that i was a student at the time. I have even looked on Navient website under the accounts ( I have 1 loan in my name only) and it simply lists me on the account as "Student" w/ the school attended as well. My question is if anyone has heard of such a listing and advice for potentially getting this removed. I have been working on clearing up my reports and this is a major cause of my scores being low due to loan amount and total of missed payments.
bump ... no one???
Welcome to myFICO, this is a section with less traffic than other areas.
is this a Parent PLUS Loan? If so, you are correct that only the parents are responsible for the loan.
Any other details about the loan you wish to share?
Have you contacted Navient?
Welcome and hopefully some of the free advice will be helpful to you.
I have the application document. The loan originated with Sallie Mae as a Tuition Answer loan. I was under the assumption that the loan was a parent plus loan. My schooling was being paid for by myself and my parents chose to originate this loan as a way to help with housing costs. My father is listed as the borrower, mother as the co-borrwer and it has a section for student borrower. The only information I was asked for was the attending school, address, SSN etc. I have contacted them attempted to initiate a dispute directly. They sent the documentation and circled my fathers infomation ( i guess to validate he was the borrwer in question). I have thought about seeking legal counsel as this issue has been going on for some years now.
