i have Fedloan Services reporting on my credit report. It shows a 0 balance and loan assigned to federal government. It shows $5000 amount of loan but 0 balance. Can I dispute to have this verified and removed?
Do you still owe this money? A federal student loan has no statute of limitations, which means that the collection account for the loan can re-appear on your report even after many years. The original account - the one that you defaulted on, should come off your report about 7 to 7.5 years after the DOFD, which is the first day your account went late and was never brought current again. If that original tradeline is too old, you can dispute it, but that will not stop this debt from potentially coming back on your report, or being collected on.
I still owe the debt of $1900. But Fedloans Servvices has never contacted me or sent me a bill or anything. I disputed it with 3 credit bureau but no response or movement from certified letters sent
I spoke with the agency that is collecting my loan and set up and sent them a 3 month payoff plan. They have not reported to my credit report. Now I am trying to get this Fedloan Services off of my credit report. When I spoke to a representative from Fedloan he said they don't hold my student loan.
