kheaa loan rehab

I have made a total of 9 payments towards rehabilitating my defaulted Federal Family Education Loan (FFEL) program student loans, yet I have not gotten anything in the mail, no calls, nothing from them about the next step. All the "bad stuff" is still on my reports. I emailed the person I had to send the documents to in order to complete the process and she hasn't responded. Anyone have experience with KHEAA and their rehab program??

Re: kheaa loan rehab

Not every rehab ends immediately after your ninth payment.  It takes time to transfer your loan to a new servicer, and that process may only happen once or twice a month.  There may also be delays if there isn't a servicer available to take your loan, or if the DoE computers are experiencing technical difficulties (which isn't uncommon).

I would call on Monday and ask about the status of your loan.  Be prepared to make a 10th rehab payment if there's a hold-up in processing, but chances are they will get you transferred to your new servicer before then.
