Sounds like a set up to me

My student loans have been rehabbed and the new company is ACS. (credit report still not updated). My first payment is due on the 14th and will continue to be due the 14th of every month. I get paid on the 15th and the last of every month. I called to see if I could get my due date switched to the 17th or so. They claim that I have a 15 day grace period and paying 1 day late won't affect my credit. They said they will put it in writing and all. My thing is, do student loans charge late fees and are they setting me up to charge me extra fees? I am going to pay prior to the 14th because I am working too hard to be everything back on track for someone in a call center to tell me it's ok to pay late. Just wondered what you guys think......

I'd definitely ask for the "written portion" of what they are claiming.

Re: Sounds like a set up to me

It isn't a set-up believe it or not.  Lots of financial institutions allow grace periods for that reason.  Your payments will never be marked as late as long as they are within that period of time.  That being said, you should be able to change the date that your payment is due without too much hassle, especially if you only want to change it by a couple of days.  I would call back and demand it be done.  Maybe insist on talking to a supervisor if the first person you talk to won't make the change.  Some other good information on student loan payments can be found at. Re: Sounds like a set up to me

I also have a couple student loans through ACS.  Their loans are due on either the 14th or the 20 something-th depending on your account and while I haven't asked, their website does state that they will not change your due date even to the other date that they have available for payment, much less the day of your choice like a lot of companies will do.

Re: Sounds like a set up to me

They suck lol I have adjusted my budget so I can pay them by the 14th. It's like setting you up for failure. They also have not reported to Equifax yet. I will call them if not on there by next week.
