Student Loan Status Never Changed on EXP

I need some help and not sure what to do.  I defaulted on my student loans at one point in time, but have since rehabilitated the loans and have been in good standing for several years.  July of 2008, I pulled my credit report and found that EXP had the account as " Claim filed with government".  I contacted the lender (AES) and they subsequently sent me a letter saying that the account was updated and should reflect that the claim was paid and was transferred.  Well EXP never changed the information and my report shows both accounts - 1 current and 1 claim filed with government and both with the same balances.  Do I copy all my info and send to EXP or do I contact lender again and see if they will resolve it?  I have been working to rebuild myself diligently and this is hurting me a bit. Any help is greatly appreciated.  Thanks

Re: Student Loan Status Never Changed on EXP

When you rehab, only the guarantor who is defined as the holder by the Higher Education Act tradelien is changed.  The OC/lender/servicer's tradeline does NOT change is and is reporting correctly.

Re: Student Loan Status Never Changed on EXP

The lien holder never changed - always was AES, it was just transferred to there rehab department and part of the rehab agreement was to remove the negative info from credit report.  The letter directly from them states "AES has reviewed your credit report and has sent a correction to Experian to change the status from account charge off to transferred."  The account balances as per the letter were to read 0.00

Re: Student Loan Status Never Changed on EXP

AES has 2 seperate divisions....loan servicing and collections, same as Direct Loans does.AES is both a lender and a servicer.  And FYI...there is no such thing as a rehab department...it is all collections for the guarantor.
