Also it feels wrong that we should have to pay so much to get our actual credit report. This should be free!
There many ways to get free reports. Any number of us will be happy to direct you to free tools for that.
For me, I'm in Colorado... updates usually post at 1am. Experian and all V3s for sure, prob all do.
I am in AZ - they usually come in sometime late afternoon. I still havent' gotten my report due yesterday! Grrr.
I have those as well. Still no credit report today. Grrr.
It sounded from your first post like you had two concerns:
(1) You want to see your report really soon. Every hour that goes by is a concern for you.
(2) You are wondering whether $40 is a lot to spend for a monthly report.
I suggest you investigate some free or ultralow cost alternatives to the $40/mo myFICO product. There are free tools that give new reports daily (WalletHub) and weekly (Karma). You can pair these with the monthly free tool of creditscore.com and you'll have free access to reports from the Big Three bureaus plus a free FICO 8 from EX.
You can supplement that with the $1 trial offer of Credit Check Total, which gives reports and FICO 8 scores.
And then there are lots of credit cards and banks that offer FICO scores for free.
I have credit reports from CK, Wallet Hub, Wells Fargo, Amex, Capital One etc., who report when they are supposed to. I also have my reports from Free.Creditreport.com, but they don't show scores, as I am sure you know.
The one site I pay for is not reporting when it is supposed to. I was supposed to get it yesterday, still nothing.
I subscribe to MyFico mainly because of the Mortage Credit Score availablity, which isn't available in any the above.
FICO 8 up to date of course on MyFico, because it updates real time, but FICO 8 isn't much use (although Amex uses it).
FICO 8 is one of the most widely used models around. I like your idea of getting the myFICO Ultimate for a single month, but once you do that you will have a pretty good idea of where your other scores fall in relation to FICO 8 Classic. (Assuming you clean up your reports first and get them reasonably stable.) I agree too that paying the $40/mo for the Ultimate is a good choice if a person is shopping for a home.
When do you think you will be buying?
I know FICO 8 is touted as being the most commonly used, but that doesn't seem to add up. It seems only one out of 10 of my reporting credit lines would have used it.
if Mortgages, Cars, and Credit Cards use versions other than FICO 8, what is left? Student loans and personal loans maybe?
My first Amex indeed used FICO 8. My second Amex through Macy's did not (appeared to be a version of Vantage because the score was like 50 points higher than any of the FICO's). Chase Amazon used a proprietary Vantage version identified on my acceptance letter.
Really only worried about Mortgage, my credit is cleaned up and stable, and my util is at 7% AZEO. I am just doing the waiting game for previous mistakes to drop off and I know if I am going to stay in the "good range" for some time, which I am fine with. Most of my scores are over 700 except the mortgage. A 90 day late payment on my mortgage will drop off in January.
Home buy is up in the air, could be any month now. I need to refi my current home and my middle Score is at 685. A little too close for comfort. Also an old closed account dropped off this month (a positive one). That could have some tempory effect too (it reduced one of my Vantage Scores by 7 points)
Many CC issuers use FICO 8 Classic rather than FICO 8 Bankcard Enhanced. This is why many CC issuers supply their customers with a free FICO 8 Classic and few supply them with a FICO 8 BE (Citi being one of the few that give a BE score).
And some auto dealerships and lenders use Classic rather than Auto Enhanced.
If you will be buying a house very soon then certainly the myFICO Ultimate is a good choice for you. Once you own your house, though I'd cancel it if I were you.
