+16 Why???

Credit Watch + 16

1 - Balance Increase $0 to $28

2 - Account Change - $0 of  $3000 HSBC to Lost/Stolen

How could either of those give me a BUMP?

Re: +16 Why???

What was your %util and #CCs reporting a balance.  Also what is the deal with your HSBC card.  Are you in disput on the balance owed?

Re: +16 Why???

I don't remember the util exactly (20%?) but the point is the 'closed' vs' 'open' couldn't have helped, it took $0 out of Useage and removed $3 from Available Credit, nothing good can come from that.

HSBC was a card I lost, so they reported it as such and haven't added my 'new' one back yet. I'll get yet another bump theoretcially from that (account in good standing, more avail credit, etc.)

The only think I can think is that Credit Alert said increase posted same day as changed and they are not necessarily connected.  I did recently have (as many people did) an old closed Amex account (1980) added back so that could have done it and it just now reflected in score.

I'm pretty psyched in any event; 708 Equifax, Cap1 CO drops off next month which is the ONLY baddie and is probably a pretty big ding given the CO'd $1200 is about 15% of my utilized credit and that in my 'bracked' a CO is probably a big ding.

Once that falls off, the good HSBC is added back, and I get util down to 1% vs 20% as I plan, I can see my scores going in the 750+ range1

Re: +16 Why???

Hmmm

It could be that even though the new account wasn't showing, it somehow was double counting the age on that card. When a card is lost or stolen and it and the new card show with the same history, it can often boost your score for the 2 years the old account is supposed to report.

I don't know why it would do that without the new account on there, but that is one possibility.
