2 Point Drop With No Explanation

Has anyone ever had this happen?  I have the 3-bureau monitoring service with MyFico and I have the alerts set up so that I get notified if my score increases or decreases. Normally when MyFico sends an alert about the change in your score, it also shows what entry on your credit precipitated that change.  Today I was alerted that my TransUnion score dropped by 2 points (I know that's not a lot), but there was absolutely no explanation as to what caused it.  It literaly just said that my TU score dropped by 2 points, and that's it.  I can't imagine that a score would just arbitrarily drop for no specific reason.  Could this be a mistake on FICO's part or is the mistake with TU?

Current - FICO 3/2019: EX(753); EQ(763); TU(749)
Beginning - FICO 7/2014: EX(630); EQ(608); TU(581)
Credit: Wells Fargo Home Projects Charge Card ($7,800); Wells Fargo Home Rebate Visa ($4,000); Capital One Quicksilver ($10,000); Capital One Venture ($6,000); Discover it ($7,900); Macy's ($20,000); BrandsMart ($4,000); Banana Republic ($1,200); Lowes ($12,000); Amex Everyday ($30,000); Macy's Amex ($15,000); Amex Platinum (NPSL); Citi Diamond Preferred ($9,000); Chase Freedom ($9,000); Wells Fargo Outdoor Solutions ($10,000); SunTrust HELOC ($25,000)

Its typically something you cant see like rebucketing. Could also be a slight change in the way a payment history is reporting you could never know unless you compared the reports line by line, dont worry about this type of score movement. Smiley Happy

Re: 2 Point Drop With No Explanation

Thanks.  I read your comment to someone else about rebucketing and thought that might be the reason.  Didn't FICO also revamp their scoring model recently?  I thought I saw that somewhere.

Re: 2 Point Drop With No Explanation

That's interesting, because my TU score just JUMPED 29 points without any explanation!   I do notice in going over my scores that in previous alerts TU will sometimes note balance changes but not change their scores, so maybe the TU scores are updated monthly?  Or, as has been mentioned, something to do with rebucketing...at any rate, I'm happy to finally go from orange to yellow on at least one score!

Re: 2 Point Drop With No Explanation

My TU bounces all over the place (within a range) with no good reason. And usually at random times thru the month, when nothing should be happening. But TU usually reports 6-10 days later than EQ or EX on everything. EQ and EX updated both of my loans and my USBANK card by the 2nd. TU still has the trained monkey pounding the information into the stone tablets. By monday or tuesday the pony express will get the info to my fico. And by then discover and Cap1 will post toEQ and EX, and on the 15th TU will update those...

Fico 9 is the new model, only been 1 report of it being used at this time.

Re: 2 Point Drop With No Explanation

I think I figured it out.  I previously had a Discover Card years ago, and closed the account.  This is no longer reporting on TU.  It was a positive account but really old so guess it doesn't have as much of an effect on my credit.
