I recently let 18 out of 29 cards report a balance on EQ. 17 cards were <1% and the 18th card to report was at 42%. Aggregate utilization was <1%.

My EQ FICO 8 Auto and Bankcard scores dropped 30 and 15 points respectively.

My EQ FICO 9 Auto and Bankcard scores dropped 30 and 17 points respectively.

Most of the point loss had already occured before the 18th card reported at 42% utilization.

All good stuff.

I can say none of my Fico 08 850 scores have ever changed on any of the 3 CRAs in thje last 2 years - regardless of 2 of 6 to 6 of 6 cards reporting and allowing an individual card to report 51% and 75% balance. I did keep overall (aggregate) UT under 6% (7% if AMEX included) thru out..

A lot of posters say they have "stable" profiles. However, the level of activity is quite high relative to my current situation - no new accounts in almost 5 years.

In 2 days my AMEX NPSL charge card will report 100% B/HB ratio. I'll pull a 3B sometime between the 24th and 28th of the month and report back. I anticipate my Fico 04 scores will be punsihed but, perhaps no change in Fico 08. Anticipate 4 of 6 cards will be reporting balances with AG UT around 4% to 5%.

Thomas_Thumb,

There way a guy named cashnocredit who did quite a few posts about his experimentation with Amex Charge cards and their effect on Equifax 08. I don't really remember the details. Your might try searching for his name. You might find some of his posts interesting.

When I refer to being in a stable bucket, I'm not refering to my own activity. I'm refering to the effect I am experiencing for # of cards reporting balances and utilization. The most dramatic example is for EQ 04. If I have new accounts less than 6 months old EQ 04 is very unstable. When I cross the barrier of having no new accounts in 6 months, all of the suddent EQ 04 becomes very stable. I suspect that there are other factors at work, but I'm not sure what they are.

How mush did your classic Fico 08 scores change?

My classic EQ Fico 08 only dropped about 5 points. However, my EQ 08 was at 850. There is probably a buffer above 850, so it is not necessarily as good a measure as the industry enhanced scores.

My Experian 08 was only at 827 and its reaction closely tracked the EX 08 enhanced scores. This causes me to think that the result on classic EQ 08 might have been muted by the buffer.

Myfico TU classic 08 dropped from 849 to 839. It had already already dropped to 843 with only 12 out of 28 cards reporting balances of <1%.

Re: 2% Util --> 9 point dip on EQ FICO 8?

Thanks.

I just want to re-confirm my EQ Fico 04 punishment [that I think relates to AMEX] as previously experienced back in February.

* At that time my AMEX was reporting 49% B/HB but I also had 6 of 6 cards reporting. This time AMEX will be 100% with "only" 4 of 6 reporting.

Re: 2% Util --> 9 point dip on EQ FICO 8?

Bizarrely, EQ dropped another 3 points when another card reported taking me to 2.5% utilization and 8 out of 19 cards reporting.

Once again, EX and TU were unmoved.

Are you sure it's just not a difference in triggers between the CRAs?

(IE: did EX and TU send an alert, but with unchanged scores, or did only EQ send an alert?)

Only EQ sent alert

This is becoming less interesting as it becomes clear that only EQ cares. I.e. this 12 point drop appears to be strictly an EQ thing, not a FICO 8 thing.

And I'm guessing it's just a temporary EQ thing at that.
