Has anyone experienced this?
The only thing we did was apply for a small ($4k) Covid loan for the side business. The HP shows on Experian (no score change), but not on Equifax (-40). TU score is also unchanged. Utilization is still <30%, no lates, no public records, nothing.
Any ideas?
CreditKarma first flagged it. Checked with Equifax directly and saw exactly the same thing: no changes.
Did it show as a HP? Mine shows nothing. Just the score drop.
I had a 43 point drop on experian today and no idea why it did that. I use experian.com for the info. Gonna try calling them and see if they can give a reason.

Neither credit Karma nor Equifax (last I heard EQ gave their own "score" that no one uses) provides FICO scores and are known to have wild swings for reasons that are not known (it is the meme on this forum that since Vantage scores are "FAKO" it isn't worth understanding what causes these large changes).
Are you sure your FICO scores dropped 40 points?
OP hasn't answered the all important question of where he got the Equifax score from. I'm betting it's not a FICO score.
