Don't overthink it, FICO scores aren't entirely based on logic and math.  They're purposely made more "palatable" to society by using sub-optimal scorecard modelling instead of pure machine-learning statistics.  Therefore, trying to understand every point loss or gain is a fairly pointless exercise, no pun intended.
