So are you in this situation, and you don't have a FICO score?

I do not follow Dave Ramsey’s plan, but I listen to his radio show more than a little bit, and I too think he gives a lot of great advice, but the more and more I listen to him (or rather, hear what he has to say), the more I believe he is, in certain areas, a bit of an extremist.  Not only that, but I have begun to question more portions of what he has to say, and that is one of the main reasons for creating this thread.

I think it’s possible to function without credit, and for many people, they’d probably be better off after considering how they manage their credit, but I would rather be one that manages my money well with excellent credit and little to no debt.

Based on what I’ve learned over the years with credit, I think I would be better off making most all large purchases on credit and subsequently paying it off so that I will have good solid trade lines as I move forward in life.  Also, I think it’s good to maintain between three and four credit cards with little to no balances.

As to your question, I am not in that situation, and I do have FICO scores.

Thanks for your insight.

And others, I thank you too for your helpful responses.

Re: A FICO score not within its range

In short response to Dave Ramsey - this country was built - literally - on credit. The irony is the fact that Dave Ramsey nor his platform to preach the credit-is-evil lectures would even exist, if it weren't for credit in the first place.
