Re: A reminder on the wide variance of FICO scoring models.

Ben,

While what you wrote about the value of knowing what models are used and perhaps what CRA may be used for those models is absolutely true (I said so in the OP!), it never has been and never will be the focus of these community fora.  I'd like more data on this as well, but that  takes a village, and the village is fleeting and transitory in their participation, especially in this area.   The best we can do is educate.

Here is the interesting irony:  The more you become aware of the nuances of creditor behavior, the less crucial it is to your daily decision making.  For a master such as TT, what bureau or model a creditor mught pull for him is of precisely zero importance.  Fortunately he graces us with his knowledge in other areas.

As for me, I have been a member of this community longer than just about anybody - 2008!   (Un)fortunately I have had the ability a few times to provide DPs for rebuilding efforts and "who pulls whats" and the like.  I am frankly an expert on those items.   But even for me the amount of data I could provide was limited.  In a few months, when I ask Ford Motor Credit for loan products, I will be sure to share it in the Auto forum, but even that is unlikely to be enough data to really paint a meaningful picture.  (Here is an example proving your point.  The auto forum has a thread on approvals and what bureau was pulled.  Nobody ever includes the actual model used, if they do put a score in the thread, it says "EX 656", which is not completely helpful.)

Anyway ... I agree with you, but it's a windmill at which I am not willing to tilt.

@BallBounces I appreciate the response! And, I understand that I'm asking a lot--you might say 'the impossible,' but apparently you would and do agree that those important DP's are sadly and conspicuously missing in the community.

Just an idea... maybe someday in the near future the cc approval board, for example, could generate a form where you answer a few 'fill-in-the-blank" questions which in turn create a more informative post listing CARD, CL, CRA, FICO MODEL, etc... you get the point--and that information is auto-added to a database that reports the information we are discussing.... I know... it's a lot and no one wants to take this on! LOL... we can dream though!!

P. S. Thanks for 17yrs of dedication and expertise..! I'm sure that what you've shared and the effort you put into this community led to hundreds, if not 1000's of new accounts and a vast education on credit. 🙏
