Does the credit limit of a card actually report for the authorized user?
I am not sure if mine does. If it does not report, wouldn't that needlessly increase my utilization because my overall balance would be higher compared to the same total credit limit?
When you look in your myFICO report, does it not list the credit limit in that field? I ask because some 3rd party report providers don't even list CLs. BTW, not all CCs report a CL. Some cards like no-preset limit CCs, like a charge card or a Signature card, lack the CL. And at the least, oddsballs like Macys/Bloomies lack a reporting CL.
If the CL does not report on an open CC, it's my understanding that it isn't scored into utilization. Cards like an Amex charge, do score into util on older versions of FICO (e.g. the TU FICO found on here) and use the high limit as a basis for the CL. The EQ FICO on here ignores it.
Thanks! So for Visa Signature, does it not factor into utilization calculation or does it use the high balance?
Also, what if I got removed from AU status today and re-added on later. Would the credit report still show one account as if I were never removed?
I'll defer to others on no preset limit CCs, though here's a great post from myFICO's Barry about the subject:
Right. If removed and re-added, the same history would carry into the new TL as if it never left.
