Hi, I had a small balance on two cards, paid one to $0 and my FICO8 dropped 15 points. I'm more concerned with my mortgage scores, which I'll get right before I apply, but I'm wondering why my FICO8 dropped. Here are the details:
I have 9 cards, no loans
No collections
Total line of credit: $41k
Citi card: $130/$4000
Chase card: $0/$16,700
The Chase card was at just under $100 before I paid it down. The next day, my EX FICO8 dropped 15 points. It's as if EX views the Citi account as $0 and my score dropped for having all $0s. But I clearly see the $130 still on my report (plus I know I haven't paid it).
There was literally no other change in any other account. Any thoughts as to what happened would be appreciated.
Is 'No Revolving Credit Usage ' now one of your negative reason codes?
$130/$41K is 0.003% util... so I guess it's possible FICO8 is viewing that as 0%, tho I think that would be unusual.

That does sound unusual because my utilization is under 1% and they haven't considered that my usage 0.
If you have the MyFICO credit reports, you should have your mortgage scores.

Yes. And if receiving daily EX scores and reports from Experian.com, OP should also have an updated EX mortgage score.
The mortgage scores (many mortgages funded by Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac use those scores) are:
Experian: FICO 2
Equifax: FICO 5
TransUnion: FICO 4.
Yep. And the Experian.com site has the FICO 2 score.
I would be curious to see if you flipped your Citi and Chase to do the AZ method if that would change your outcome?!
I know some cards I have noticed even when I had a small balance they did not round up so YMMV they may be like someone said above me that they reported it to 0%
I checked my Experian mortgage score; it didn't move at all. So...
9 cards ($41,400 limit)
2 with balances ($95/$16700 and $130/$4000)
Experian FICO8: 740
Experian FICO2: 734
Paid off the Chase ($95 balance; $0 was reported to CRAs; everything else the same)
Experian FICO08: 725
Experian FICO2: 734
Maybe FICO8 rounds down when utilization is so low, but FICO2 doesn't? But then why didn't I get a bump for going AZEO on FICO2?
...also, to answer a question earlier in the thread, I do not have a "No revolving credit usage" explanation.
