I am considering transferring a variety of balances to my Navy Federal Flagship card, which has my best interest rate. If I did so, the result would be zero balances on all cards and about 27% utilization on the Flagship card. Would I get the AZEO benefit under that scenario? I know I would get the most benefit after paying it down below 8.9%. I'm just wondering if I'd get a score bounce right away from all the other cards having zero balances even though the aggregate balance would remain the same. Also, can I do AZEO with a Navy card given that it's a credit union card? Finally, does anyone know if one can transfer a Wayfair balance to a Navy Visa card? It's the now defunct comenity Wayfair card on which I still have a balance that I'm paying off. Thanks everyone.
AZEO simply means all revolvers with a zero balance except one. While moving everything to 1 card may accomplish that, your profile/score may still not be quite optimized due to the utilization on that card. Some don't see a penalty until over 29%, so you may in fact be optimized. The benefit you will see though comes from your number of accounts with a balance decreasing. I suppose the question then is how many accounts do you currently have with balances? Taking advantage of a BT to lower interest makes a lot of sense, but often doesn't do too much for scores since aggregate utilization (which is King) remains the same, even though the balance(s) are shuffled around a bit. I also know nothing about Navy Federal, but if they give SP CLIs it may be worth going for one before the BT as to aid in keeping your utilization as low as possible.
