Account Lost

I AM FREAKING OUT.  Stupid Creditkarma went out almost 10 points because they say an account is gone - doesn't say closed, fell off, etc.  UGH!

So I bought the score/report here today and no changes to score or report).

WTH?

What if one of my accounts ages of EQ and I drop down right before crunch time?  O MAN O MAN.

Re: Account Lost

One of the perils of leaning on CreditKarma, I'm afraid.  Smiley Tongue

Check the closing dates on the EQ report that you bought here. (*Even these reports are third-party, but in my experience, they're pretty accurate.) Do you have any closed accounts that were closed in 2001 or early 2002? If not, you should be OK.

HOWEVER, Equifax does lose closed accounts early, especially if you soft EQ a lot. Many people try to do a little "magic" Smiley Wink --sorry, no further details will be coming due to forums Terms of Service --on their reports by frequent pulling, only to find that they lose closed accounts and/or that their files split.

*Regarding my comment about myFICO reports being "pretty accurate": sometimes we'll see something odd on reports pulled here, such as accounts reported twice. However, the FICO score that you get along with the report is generated from your full report, which is maintained by the credit bureau(s.) As long as the full report is accurate --no double accounts, etc. --your FICO score is accurate, no matter how weird the accompanying myFICO report might be. The report glitches occur when the bureaus change something in how they organize the reports, don't tell FICO, and then the date maps over incorrectly. Again, your score comes from the bureau-maintained reports, so it's OK.

* Credit is a wonderful servant, but a terrible master. * Who's the boss --you or your credit?

Re: Account Lost

The credit information and score that you get from CreditKarma is well worth what it costs............

CK is based upon info from TU.

My TU FICO from here shows $105,211 Revolving. Only complaint would be that I would also like the TU '04 score.

CreditKarma pulled the same day shows $40,560 Revolving.

The infomation is worth something, even though there are big problems with it. The score is a waste of time.

EQ FICO seems to be the best indicator of actual credit worthiness although EX updates faster.

Re: Account Lost

it looks like i could have an old car loan go away sometime soon as date of last activity was august 2000.  BUT is that the day it was closed? DOLA?

Re: Account Lost

I just noticed that our neighbors at CKarma list "Average Age Of Open Accounts" instead of AAoA as Fico does.

Re: Account Lost

One of many discrepancies, I'm afraid.

If you're going to watch yourself on CK, be sure to ignore everything on their "reports" and "report cards".   Absolutely everything.  You'll sleep better.
