Adding Authorized Users To Your Credit Profile

Click on the link to watch the video from Fair Isaac aka MyFico on the Fico model 8 score. About 3 minutes into the video authorized users are brought up. These types of accounts are for the spouse o

child of the parent. Because of the fraudulent intentions of those that lease out their history or add other

People  that are not family members Fico is not allowing the score to have very much if an impact. The score is there to measure individuals who actually are responsible by making payments on their accounts.

Thanks for the info. Smiley Happy

I don't know if that happens to anyone else, but the link above jumps to nearly the end of the video. Here's a link that starts at the beginning of the video.

Re: Adding Authorized Users To Your Credit Profile

Yeah, this is a pretty old video that talks about the good old days when all you had to do to raise your scores was rent an AU or two from people that had really high scores and old credit cards. Smiley Surprised

FICO and lenders have really cracked down on that practice. When I added my son as an AU to my BoA card last year, I had to fill out a special form that they would only send to me via US Mail and that I had to return to them via US Mail. They would have made my son an AU in an instant but without the form they wouldn't report him as an AU to the CRAs.

Starting Score: EQ 653 6/21/12
Current Score: EQ 817 3/10/20 - EX 820 3/13/20 - TU 825 3/03/20

Re: Adding Authorized Users To Your Credit Profile

I've added multiple family members. No real hoops to jump through in order to do it. Citi was the only one where I had to talk to someone for verification on adding my GF as an AU.
After that, adding her or my daughters was at will. I've never experienced it not helping those I've added.
Paying strangers to do this is a no no.
Using the system for what it is designed for, can make the pathway to good credit easier for loved ones.

I'm going to use it to its fullest! Insurance companies and banks use it to make us all pay more. No guilt here impeding them from collecting as little as possible from my folks.😀
