That was fast. The funds became available in a little less than 24 hours.
The loan application was easy, just as described. Now I just need to wait for either a phone call or an email from the LO.
Nice. It took mine about 4 business days to become available, for some reason.
If you get the loan formally opened by the end of business next Monday, July 31st, it should report to the credit bureaus later that same night, since Alliant apparently updates on the last day of the month.
If you don't hear back by Friday (or even Monday morning, if you want to push it), you can call in and they'll finalize it on the spot. Just keep in mind that some loan reps will tell you that the $500 Share Secure loan can only be for 12 or 24 months. (In my case, I didn't care, but others might not be planning any other installment loans for a while and might want the 48- or 60-month term.)

UPDATE:
The LO actually contacted me near immediately; I was really surprised. I applied for the loan at maybe 1 a.m. and at 5:30 this morning I got an email to give this guy a call. By then I was already in bed and unfortunately this guy is done with his work day by 1 p.m. my time so I missed him. I'll get him tomorrow.
But good advice, joe_miami. Thank you.
It sounds like Alliant is really on top of things right now. When I joined a month ago, I never got a follow-up call from a rep, it took about 4 days for my funds to become available, and I had to call in to complete the loan application because I didn't get a call or email.

Huh. Maybe they just think I'm prettier than you, Joe.
UPDATE:
Just got off the phone with the LO. It was super brief with only a handful of questions. My LO confirmed my identity, asked me where I wanted my loan money to go (snail mail it in check form or deposit it into my savings account), when I wanted my payment to be auto-sucked out of my account, ran down a short list of terms and conditions, and asked if I had any questions he could help me with.
Lastly, I was told that the email containing the link to sign the documents would arrive within 3 hours.
UPDATE:
I received the email containing the link to sign the loan documents about 2 hours after speaking with the LO. There were a handful of indentity verification questions and just two places to sign. Copies of the loan docs are not provided by Alliant but instead can be downloaded as a pdf.
Now I just wait for the money to be deposited in the savings account.
Well, I called Alliant today and they told me the funds will not be available until Friday.
That's over a week from the initial funding.
I hate that I am so impatient
UPDATE:
Welp, that's pretty much it. I made the 420 dollar payment just a moment ago and my loan balance now sits at 80. Now I just need to wait until the automatic payment goes through to try and delete the auto-pay. Of course I tried to delete it immediately and of course I ended up with the same result as everyone else -- a giant nope.
For anyone reading through my updates I did make one mistake that I caution you not to repeat. Instead of requesting my payment date to be 7-10 days out from the finalization date of the loan (like the instructions said), I chose the 1st of the month. Which is 6 days out. What that did was to push my first payment into September instead of August like it should have been. I'm not in a hurry for this technique to give me a score boost, but if you are then doing what I did would be bad as you'd have to wait an extra month before you could bring the loan balance down below 9%. #ReadTheDamnInstructions
I'll post again once I've completed the penultimate step.

That's so odd, Total80sKid. I believe you and Joe_Miami are having the same problem -- lengthy delays. Either that or I'm just getting inexplicably lucky.
I'm impatient with these things, too, so I know how you feel.
