Amount Past Due on Collection

Does the amount past due on a CA have any impact on your score beyond the already negative of a collection.  For some reason I had a CA suddenly start listing the same amount in the balance under the 'past due' amount.  Previously this was an n/a.  Please advice, i'm really nervious about this...

Re: Amount Past Due on Collection

Hi EaglesFan...when you pull your credit report, is this account listed as having late payments now, where it hadn't been before? Had you pulled your FICO scores previous to this? And have you pulled new ones?

I'm not honestly sure about this. You have obviously compared the reporting from before and after this change, but I'm wondering about the appearance of new red flags, etc.

Re: Amount Past Due on Collection

Is there any reason as to why they would have added that? And it has no effect on my credit?

Re: Amount Past Due on Collection

They added it to comply with the full and accurate credit reporting requirements of the FCRA.

I agree that it is not factored into credit scoring, but it is certainly something that a creditor will look at when doing a manual review of your CR.

So it may be affecting your credit, while not directly affecting your score.

As for payment history, a CA cannot report payment history, for you dont have an account with a CA.  CA "accounts" are simply reporting accounts between the CA and the CRA, and not with you.

A CA only reports their account as the date opened with the CRA, and current status as remaining open with unpaid balance remaining, paid in part, paid in full, or deleted.   They can also report the balance amount as a special comment, which FICO scoring does not look at.
