I am wondering why the Auto Scores are not following suite with the credit score increase that I am seeing as I paid down my CC bills from 98% utilization to 72%
I also brought down the balance on my car loan from my original loan amount hoping this will help increase the Auto Score.. didn't budge much.
AutoScore is at 467/475/482
FICO 8 is at 625/625/583.
Thoughts?
Any late payments? Particularly on installment loans?
What were your FICO 8 scores before the lower balance?
Think of a base FICO score as a universal score of sorts, one that assigns you a level of creditworthiness for any type of credit. The FICO auto score, on the other hand, assigns you a level of creditworthiness for auto loans specifically. So in the past was there any baddies from a previous auto loan? CC util is added into the mix. Get your util way down. You'll save $ in interest too. High CC util %'s hurt more than loan util %'s. Pass 28% on your revolving credit and you'll see a change for the better.
@sccredit yes one late payment that I requesting GMFinancial to remove as one of the two payments I made went to principle instead of the following month.
@HeavenOhio fico8 was mid-high 500s
@FireMedic1 Like @sccredit and you pointed out, the one recent late auto payment is what's pulling the auto score down. Also, CC Util% is high at 82% which I will be bringing down to near 20-30%. Hopefully, as you suggested, that should help the AutoScore.
Question: Do I need to bring the CC Util to <30% or does it have to go further down to like 10%?

Get it below 8.99%. That 30% util is a internet false %. 28.9% is the real one. How old is the late? Is it a 30 day?
