Balance changed to $0 and Score Dropped!

Question for anyone who can answer.

The only change on DH's EX report this morning was that one of his store cards went from 45% utilization to 0 and his score dropped 12 points. Nothing else changes. All balances on everything else stayed the same.

Is there any logic to the score drop?

Have you disputed anything in the last 30 days?

No, the last time I checked the score was on the 22nd. Nothing has changed since then. Nothing else has updated. I've compared the reports side by side and went line by line and not dates have changes, no amounts, etc. The only change is that the store card updated to a 0 balance. I just don't understand.

Just figured something out. Util went from 2% to 0%. Is EX that sensitive? I guess I should have let at least 1% report. I didn't know it would affect the score like that.

A 12 point loss is not uncommon for letting all $0 balances report.  Ideally, keep your overall utilization at 1% for max FICO points.

A 12 point loss is also not uncommon in months with 2 full moons, months with an r in them, months that contain an Eqinox, election months, summer months and election months.  Smiley Very Happy

Like the others said, that was probably it. So all accounts reported a $0 balance?

Although we've seen some signs that long-history, high-score members can let all report $0 without a penalty, it looks like everyone else needs to have something show signs of life each month, no matter how small.
