CC relationship to credit score question

Looking to boost my score so here is the question:

I have the following credit cards and can add myself as a AU on my wifes CC /or sisters CC.

My CC:

USAA AMEX  $  3000 limit,      zero balance, (9) months old, and no lates.

USAA Master $  3000 limit,      zero balance, (8) months old, and no lates.

Navy Fed        $12000 limit, $36.00 balance, (4) months old, and no lates.

Navy Loc        $     500 limit,      zero balance, (4) months old, and no lates.

Current MyFICO EQ score 640 with an AAOA of 3.5 years.

Wifes CC:

Navy Fed        $  1000 limit,       zero balance, (3) months old, and no lates.

Sisters CC:

Navy Fed        $10000 limit,   $3000 balance, (3) months old, and no lates.

Will adding me as an AU help or hurt in this situation?

Re: CC relationship to credit score question

I wouldn't. Your sister's balance will hurt you and both accounts are new.

Re: CC relationship to credit score question

Since your Sister and wife's cards were just oponed (3 months old) if u add yourself in those cards, your AAoA will go down and as a consequence your score will drop a bit

Re: CC relationship to credit score question

I was affraid that my score might drop based on AAOA, but was hoping a new positive tradeline would boost it.

I am not sure if there is anything else that can be done to jump my score to the 700 club.

Re: CC relationship to credit score question

It will hurt. Don't be an AU of a card that either is new or is carrying a balance.

Based on the above conditions, and based on what others have posted, your score won't boost to the 700 club.  This is only achieved with time, patience and a positive growth strategy.  If your family members' accounts had been established for a period greater than your individual file, then you could potentially see some score improvement but would likely depend on the rescoring of your file with the combined information and other factors.

Your aaoa is what's killing you. You need to wait a year or two to get it to 700+

Re: CC relationship to credit score question

OP:

There is no way you can get to 700 club right now. Just wait for a few months say like 6-8 and you should be pretty close unless you pickup more inquiries.

I would suggest staying away from AU and gain positive history on your own.
