Re: Can I PLEASE Get Advice On How To Improve CR and Score...HELP!!!

Yes, Americredit reports only on hubby's report and never late, not once, even through all the financial struggles...and we've had the car 1 and 1/2 year now! I know that's probably like blinking for some but given our (hubby and my) history...that ROCKS!!!! We went through a few cars before we "GREW UP." Young and dumb...what can I saySmiley Very Happy

Maybe if you reposted with only the negative things on your account and the negative things highighted, it would be easier for people to read through and offer suggestions.

Once I figure out what's negative I'll be sure to do that. Because right now, it's ALL negative to me ; accts aren't updated, loans look wacky, CCC's listed multiple times...I just needed people that would take the time to help to see the overall picture and tell me what they thought should or should not be addressed. I didn't want to assume.

Re: Can I PLEASE Get Advice On How To Improve CR and Score...HELP!!!

Ok, I am no expert but here is what I got:

Collection Items
Collector FLORIDA POWER LIGHT COMPANY
Ownership Individual; Date Open 01-2008; Balance Date 03-2008; Balance Amount $123
Date of Status 03-2008; Status Account seriously past due

This I would try to PFD (pay for delete). There is a process for doing this. I believe you contact the lender and ask for a DV just to make sure they can validate the debt. Then you write then a PFD letter offering to pay for deletion. Get some advice for this from someone who has done it. Personally, I haven't done it, but understand the process.
Is this still with the power company who provided your service? If so, I guess you send them the PFD letter.

CAP ONE - Credit Card
Ownership Individual; Date Open 06-2007; Balance Date 08-2008; Balance Amount $5530 (should say $0); Monthly Pymnt $165; High/Limit $5500; Account Status Pays account as agreed; Prior Delinquency 12-2007; 30 Days Late 1 Time

CAP ONE - Credit Card, Terms REV
Ownership Individual; Date Open 06-2007; Balance Date 09-2008; Balance Amount $0; Monthly Pymnt $165; High/Limit $5500; Account Status Current account/was 30 days past due date; Prior Delinquency 12-2007; 30 Days Late 1 Time

These ones, you would write a GW letter to Cap One asking for them to remove the late. Again probably info about success with this in the rebuilding forum somewhere.

ACS/NELLIE MAE - Education Loan
Ownership Individual; Date Open 11-2001; Balance Date 05-2008; Balance Amount $17358; High/Limit $17358; Account Status Pays account as agreed; Current account/was delinquent 90 days past due date; Prior Delinquency 06-2007
Comments Student loan - payment deferred; 60 Days Late 1 Time; 90 Days Late 1 Time

This has a delinquency. Again, I guess you could GW. I've never had a US student loan, so no clue if they are willing to work with you on it, but maybe post a thread specific to this one item and someone will have advice.

ACS/SLMA/BLUEMONT FUND - Education Loan
Ownership Individual; Date Open 09-2004; Balance Date 06-2008; Balance Amount $17138; High/Limit $17138; Account Status Pays account as agreed; Current account/was delinquent 90 days past due date; Prior Delinquency 06-2007
Comments Student loan - payment deferred; 60 Days Late 1 Time; 90 Days Late 1 Time

See Above.

AFFILIATED FINANCIAL - Auto Loan
Ownership Individual; Date Open 07-2001; Balance Date 02-2007; Account Status Paid account/was a repossession; Prior Delinquency 01-2005; Comments Closed

I don't know about this one. I guess this would call for a GW, but again, you should ask specifically someone who has dealt with this type of item (I haven't). It seems kind of old, so I don't know how much damage it is doing.

I don't think I saw anything else bad, but I may have missed something. There were some closed cards and such, but I don't think you want to get any inquiries trying to reopen if you plan to get a mortgage in the near future. Other than that, I guess just keeping your debt paid down and making payments on time will increase your score.

Lastly:

THD/CBSD - Revolving Charge Account

Ownership Authorized User; Date Open 07-2006; Balance Date 08-2008; Balance Amount $1931 (should be $600); High/Limit $1900; Account Status Pays account as agreed

I won't be an authorized user on any of my husband's cards where he is carrying a balance, because it messes up my utility.  The utility of that card is higher than your own personal utility so is raising yours a bit (I don't know by how much or if it's an issue for you or not). If it's not going to be paid down in the near future. I'd get myself off that card and v.v with you HD card if you husband is on it.

Bump..heh.  Just curious if any of the balances updated and if you noticed a difference in your FICO scores yet?

Re: Can I PLEASE Get Advice On How To Improve CR and Score...HELP!!!

I actually haven't pulled my FICO scores yet as I'm trying to wait out the full 45 days to make sure everything has a chance to update. Because according to TruCredit.com almost none of the balances have updated. No true increase in our FAKO's either. This is what they are/were:

TruCredit 10/8/2008                                         TruCredit 9/25/2008
Mine: EQ 575      Hubby: EQ N/A                         Mine: EQ 570              Hubby: EQ 601
        EX 623                 EX N/A                                 EX 588                         EX 581
        TU 624                 TU 605                                TU 621                         TU 600
Not sure why they changed hubby's 3 in 1 to just being able to see TU, but since I'm canceling in a few days I decided not to pursue the issue. Anyway, thanks for asking...I appreciate the concern and I'll post as soon as there's been any significant increase.

Re: Can I PLEASE Get Advice On How To Improve CR and Score...HELP!!!

I'm so sorry I have neglected to thank everyone who has contributed to my request for help. Thank you all, especially siangirl34... I appreciate any effort put forth to weed through my info and give your opinions as to what I should or should not do. As I stated in the seventh response on this post, I appreciate anyone who takes the time to respond as the reassurance is invaluable.

On another note, since I last updated you all of our FAKO scores, my EQ has gone up 6 pts. but my hubby's TU has gone down from 632 on 10/11 to 620 today. Not sure what the problem is it could have to with the fact that his Home Depot decreased his CL from 1900 to 800 and with a $600 balance that we left on there, the util is probably hurting him...but I know this is a work in progress and in 6 months, hopefully this will all pan out in our favor.

Again, thank you to all who responded and will continue to respond with helpful and encouraging replies to this post.
