I was wondering if you can request for a lender to pull from a certain credit bereau, or does every lender have a set bereau they always pull from. It seems that my Transunion score is always 30 or more points higher then my Equifax, but everyone always pulls through Equifax. My only two ever (hard) inquires on Transunion were student loans I applied for and Experian has 1 inquire on it. At one point I had 9 hits on my Equifax while the other two had 0! So is this just happening to me or is this the "perfered bereau" to pull from? Thanks.

I applied online for a Discover Motiva about 3 weeks ago. I received the 7-10 day response. At which point I picked up the phone, and talked to a rep at Discover, who subsequently told me that the application had been denied.
Now the surprising part. He told me that they pulled my Transunion score, but he offered to do a recon using another score. At which point, he asked if I'd rather them pull an Equifax or Experian. I asked that he pull Experian (because my Equifax was a few points lower), and I was approved with a $1500 CL. No doubt, I would imagine that this was an isolated incident and I would not expect kind of service from every rep, but there is always a chance.

This is pretty much a standard procedure for Discover on recon. It is also another proof of why all denials should be recon'ed.
Great approval! Nice job!
For you it was EQ - for me definitely EX. I have no scoring inquiries on EQ or TU. I guess that's just the way it breaks, although I will say this vary rarely happens with TU.
As for your score difference I would obtain a FICO report from EQ and TU of similar vintage, print them out, lay them side-by-side and review them very carefully. I'm pretty sure there is some difference other that the INQ's that accounts for the 34 point difference. Start by looking at the reasons page 2, but don't stop there. Go through the reports in detail, line-by-line.
Ok, so I did what you said, looked at both reports. They both have the same inquires in the past year on them. However Transunion says on page 2 that I have many accounts in good standing as a positive, but Equifax does not. Instead, Equifax says i have too many revolving accounts with a balance but Transunion doesn't. All the other factors an page 2 for positive and negative are both the same besides those. It really makes no since to me. Another factor was the one page 1, Transunion said my Amount of New Credit was Good, while Equifax says it is Bad.
