Capital One TU delay? Just me?

I paid off about 6 cards in the last few weeks-2 of which are Capital One cards. The statements close on the 12th and 15th and the balances are typically updated at CRA within a couple of days. EQ and EX both show the January info. TU does not. Is this just me?

I know there can be delays but it’s an unusually long time (for these cards) and I’m impatiently awaiting to see score updates.

I mean-synchrony has reported the same card 3 different times while I’ve been waiting for C1.

TU in general is slow for stuff. I don't think it's a Cap One issue.

Re: Capital One TU delay? Just me?

My other cards/lenders have been updating immediately on TU - and these cards have too for at least the last 6 months.

It might be a TU issue but it's confined to these two cards.

Re: Capital One TU delay? Just me?

Well, I also have yet to have Cap One report my new Platinum card on TU, but it's only been about a month and a half since opening. Granted, there have been two statements generated already.

But I also had a collection from Portfolio Recovery that was removed from EX and EQ within a few weeks of me making the final payment to them, and TU took nearly two months to finally delete it. They're also always last to update balances on my COd accounts I'm paying on. Hence why I say they're just slow at reporting in general.

Re: Capital One TU delay? Just me?

They were the last to remove my collection last year too (a week or two later than the others). I think maybe that’s a different process?

They have been pretty sprite with regular account updates for my cards. The updated balances have been showing within a day or two of the statement date (or report date since Synchrony has reported my ebates card 3 times in a week now-TU has updated that within the hour LOL). And C1 is usually no exception.

Re: Capital One TU delay? Just me?

I'm sure Cap 1 sent in the info. TU for me takes 3-10 to report. Credit cards post quicker than installment. I'm sure it will post in the next day or 2.

Re: Capital One TU delay? Just me?

I don't think Capital One is the issue. I have 4 cards and have had then from 15 - 23+years.  MANY people including myself have had years of experience with different CMS's, paid and non paid subscription will note that TU is known to be the latest to report, sometimes very late, sometimes wont report for a month.

TU has consistently been the latest to update on many services for me for years.  Here's a link I recently posted in and you will find many who reference late reporting by TU in numerous posts if you search.  But alerts are a different thing to when the CB actually reports.  The question becomes when the CMS forwards that information to you via an update or alert.  I'm pretty confident TU is in fact later than the others, but I'm also now pretty convinced that the CMS reporting to you may cause further delay.

Re: Capital One TU delay? Just me?

So what I’m getting is that the unusual thing isn’t that these two cards are updating very late this month, but that everything else has updated timely (including these cards in the past). Which very well may be true. Maybe TU has decided they are treating me too well.

And for the alerts/CMS side-myFICO said that their alerts are 24-48 hours after the fact. I don’t get balance alerts from any other CMS. But I do cycle through several CMS to see when things update so I will know 1-when things typically update and 2-when to expect myFICO to give me a possible score update (or if I want to use something else).

I think maybe I’ve just lucked out with everything else with TU. This is really the first time I’ve had any delays. But it sounds like it’s not the delay that’s unusual, but the fact that my stuff has been timely that is the real unicorn.

I guess I’ll just sit tight and work on patience.

Thank you!

Re: Capital One TU delay? Just me?

Yep, myFICO alerts for TU are always later for me and many.  I find an update on the free WalletHub sight that updates TU data daily long before I get an alert from myFICO from TU.  Granted if you pull your scores through paying, you will find that TU may have updated but you did not receive an alert through myFICO.  I strongly disagree that the alerts are 24-48 hrs after the CB reports.

EX is more timely but still after I get my update from my EX subscription that updates daily.  And EQ has little back up other than Credit Karma which is every 7 days.  You simply can't rely on myFICO alerts to determine if and when something has been updated because they are not always timely and there are alertable events, which a balance change should be for all CB's.  For me, TU on myFICO is very late and even sometimes skips a month.  However, it's the only bureau that provides an update on myFICO for a score change without some other alertable event, although it may be late.

Re: Capital One TU delay? Just me?

Oh-I‘M sorry. I’m not using the alerts to tell when it’s updated. Only that by default the update has occurred prior to that alert. So if my alert is on the 18th, the update could not have occurred after the 18th.

I questioned myFICO about something funky showing on my dashboard vs the alerts and that’s when their help/support said the alerts were 24-48 hours delayed from the actual event. I think that might be optimistic on their part. But the alert will happen at some point after the event.

I use Credit Karma, Wallet hub, Amex scorecard, chase my credit journey, nerd wallet & cap1 credit wise for free weekly TU report updates (I can update each on a different day). I use Experian for EX. EQ I have my Equifax and CK. When I say things are updating (or not)-I’m using these reports and looking at the reported balances and date-not alerts. As you said-the event happens prior to whenever the alert happens. If the alert happens at all.

MyFICO doesn’t yet reflect my paid off cards on any bureau (except one on EQ) - but EX shows the $0 balances on their report so I know it’s coming to myFICO eventually. TU shows (on the other CMS - not myFICO) all but capital one at $0 so those should be coming to myFICO eventually too. EQ shows on CK. So I know those are coming.

I’m not usually this uptight about it. But I paid off a lot and got rid of the balances on a lot of cards so I’m trying to keep an eye out for changes when they happen.
