Re: Cli dropped my score 43 points

If CLIs dropped scores, I would be at 0.

Re: Cli dropped my score 43 points

If FICO algorithms don't penalize you for CLI, I have to ask why the MyFICO simulator shows a penalty for CLI?

Because the myFICO simulator, as with all simulators, is utterly and completely worthless.

The only possible score drop from a CLI is an associated HP which could be 0-7 points for Ficos. Typically 5 points if you change inquiry bins.

Yes, the Fico simulator is misleading and inaccurate from my experience.

Re: Cli dropped my score 43 points

To put an epilogue to the story,  Fact is Fact...the Vantage score, useless as it may be, did drop 43 points. I did check my Fico 8 scores....EXP 799, TU 805 and EQ 807 so the CLI did help by 1 to 2 points each as expected. I am still carrying a 20% usage debt due to big mistakes I made when I was younger but I am working hard to get below 10% and someday 1% (never 0).

Re: Cli dropped my score 43 points

I used to sign in to Credit Karma and a couple other sites weekly to get VS3 scores from all 3 CRAs. I received many SP CLIs during that time along with a couple HP CLIs.

My VS3 score never dropped due to a SP CLI. I did experience small, under 10 point, drops relating to the HP CLIs but, only with the CRA that recorded the inquiry.

CLIs do not trigger 43 point drops on VS3. I've looked thru their full list of reason codes. I also used the VS3 simulator on CK and don't recall any significant score drop forcasts associated with CLIs.

Are you signed up with CK? It's free and the site provides TU and EQ VS3 scores. They have a nice summary of your accounts and what's changed from the previous update. Can you compare VS3 scores among all CRAs?

Did any of your credit card balances increase significantly? How about AU accounts? Fico 8 and Fico 9 ignore them in scoring but VS3 does not.

Re: Cli dropped my score 43 points

Again..the ONLY changes have been the CLI from 38K to 50K on one card and total revolving debt reduction of $1200. There is nothing else. I get the comments and agree but there are no other factors. I have CK, CS and all the assorteds from my credit cards. The FICO 8 is in line so I guess that's all that counts.

Thank you for coming back and acknowledging that the CLI helped, rather than hurt,  your FICO scores.

Since you have access to VS3 from EQ and EX, what were those before/after scores? Also, no AU accounts?

Re: Cli dropped my score 43 points

Op....I've witnessed glitches in my vantage scores. The next month, or update, it generally straightens its way out. If you are not applying for anything, give it some time to work it's way out. If you are wanting to apply, pull out your wallet and pay a few bucks to see your real scores, the ones that matter. At times depending on what I'm applying for, like a vehicle, that's exactly what I do. That way I see first hand accuracy. You may also opt to check them now for your own peace of mind. Generally a cli does not drop a score unless a hp is incurred. And a 43 point drop for an inquiry is a record breaker to say the least. You said no hp and nothing else changed, so I'm inclined to say glitch.
