Closing newest card that I’m a AU

It’s a boa with 2400 limit

It’s getting closed because my grandmother passed away last week

It was opened for 3 months

I have a 2000 discover 10 months old
Capital one 300. 1 yr 12 months old
Credit one 400. 9 months old

My scores are roughly 660s fico 8

How bad will this impact my score
When we added it to my report it’s boosted me 15 points

But besides that how long will it stay on my report before it’s closed and deleted ?

And what do i do with the owes amount on the cards roughly 500$ balance ?

I’m so sorry over the death of your grandmother.  Re your question re the balance of the cc where you are the au, and my family  going through “estate” stuff as well, did your grandmother have a trust?  If so, the trust will be responsible for paying any bills your grandmother had outstanding, however, you may be required to reimburse the trust for your portion.  As far as your credit scores, someone much more qualified than I will answer this question.  Best of luck.

Re: Closing newest card that I’m a AU

First off, we're all really sorry to hear you having to lose your grandmother. There are few worse things than juggling finances because a loved one passed. Just an awful combination, sorry you're in it at the moment.

With that said, some thoughts.

They're gonna need all the balances on the cards separately. That'll help them determine the possible impact better.

Also, if the estate doesn't doesnt manage to have that CC handled and the $500 becomes past due and if for some reason it starts to negatively impact your credit reports, simply take the time to dispute the account.

Something as simple as, "It's not my account. It was a grandmother's." will get it removed from all 3 likely.

If you get any Bill's, you're not obligated for that legally.

You've already done the legal and proper thing by removing the account. If it keeps following you and causes problems, there's two premeditated answers above for common problems.

Post your balances on each CC and the CL and the ages again and someone smarter than me can help.

Good luck, this is hard, hope you get all you need!

Re: Closing newest card that I’m a AU

I suggest you take it upon yourself to inform CC company of her death, so they can note it quicker rather than later. So it doesn't become a problem.

Esp. if you don't pay off the balance, which isn't your responsibility.

Legally you're not supposed to use an AU card when primary account holder has passed, if you haven't after those dates then you can't be faulted and obligated to pay those balances.

If you have, mistakes happen, research and make an informed opinion on what you should do.

Re: Closing newest card that I’m a AU

My condolences for your grandmother passing. They are special ladies.

Pay off the $500 by the payment due date. If you have trouble paying it that quickly, use a BT to the Discover card to move the balance to your own cards.

Re: Closing newest card that I’m a AU

My deepest sympathies regarding your grandmother.

Although you are not legally responsible for the debt since you are an authorized user, this could be an opportunity. You could make an offer to pay it, if they allow you to take over the account and become the primary. Just a thought since it would be your largest credit limit and you have a thin profile.
