If i have a collection account still owned and being reported by the originial creditor that i paid off over 1 week ago to a $0 balance (and this is only being reported on 1 credit file which is equifax) and i looked at my equifax report (not the one through my fico) and i can see that the balance has been updated to $0 why haven't i recieved a score watch alert from my fico telling me about the change as well to this account? Shouldn't my fico equifax report automatically recieve the update as well?
ScoreWatch only sends updates when your score changes. If you haven't done so already, make sure you set your target score to your current score. It's a bit counterintuitive, but this is the best way to make sure that every score change results in an alert being sent. The system is also a little slow, so it can take a couple days after the change for ScoreWatch to send an alert. However, it is possible that the account didn't change your score at all. Unless it was a CC account that was factoring into your utilization, paying collection accounts usually do not affect your score. Paid collections and unpaid collections are scored the same, the damage was done as a result of the account being delinquent. If there was a CA listing also associated with this account, it should be deleted since you paid the OC directly and the OC still owned the account. DV the CA if this applies.
