Hi All,
Any guestimate on how many points I will get for a 2015 collection being dropped off?
I know that we won't know for sure until it happens but I could use 30 points for a mortgage.
Thanks,
Stephanie
There are a lot of factors that go into answering that question, mainly the details of your credit report. The biggest factor would be whether or not there are any other baddies and/or negative accounts on your credit report. If not, you could easily see a 50+ point gain. If you have other baddies, the gain would be substantially less... maybe only 5-20 points. Also things like file thickness need to be considered, AAoA, etc.
When my last two baddies fell off of my EQ report, I got a 62 point jump. As BrutalBodyShots said, there are many factors that will affect your increase. Fingers crossed for ya!
OP, do you have any other negative items on your report outside of the one you're talking about dropping off?
@BrutalBody Shots
Yes- I have one verified collection with EOS/CCA for $131 from 2014. I am going to offer PFD and hope that works.
I also have a Comcast collection for $411 that has not come back verified yet- but we are only about 17 days into the 30 day window so there is still time for that to come back verified. Which I would also then offer PFD and pray that works..
Other than that- I have 1 30 day late from 6 months ago
And 2 30 days late from 4 years ago.
And that's it.
I'm sure all of this impacts to some degree. Wish I had a magic ball to see the percentages!
It sounds like you've got 4 or 5 negative accounts then although you weren't really clear on if those late payments are on 1 account or on multiple accounts.
The number if dirty accounts is a big factor, not just the number of negative items such as late payments. For example, someone could have 10 accounts on their credit report with a single 30 day late on each of the 10 accounts resulting in a total of 10 late payments. Conversely, someone could have an otherwise identical profile except 9 of their 10 accounts are perfectly clean and the 10th account has all 10 of the 30 day late payments. While the total number of late payments are equal, the second person has a significantly better credit profile as they only have 1 negative account of out 10 where the first person has 10 negative accounts out of 10. Scoring would likely be quite different between these two profiles, despite the equal amount of negative information because of how it's distributed.
To get back on course with your original question, though, the removal of 1 negative account likely won't have a big impact on your score when you have 3+ other negative accounts. It could be anything from a couple of points to maybe 10-15 at best, IMO. Your best bet is to do what you can to get as many (preferably all) of those negatives removed, which it seems you are already working toward doing.
