Collection accounts

On collection accounts, does FICO use the date reported by the creditor for the score calculation or the date of last activity with the original creditor?

Re: Collection accounts

My understanding is that it is the DOLA. And I say because when one disputes a tl, and they update it, it makes it look more recent. (Like a dummy, I've done this myself on unimportant things!)

DOFD/DOLA. But as Gfer says, if you dispute and it comes back verified, then it will seem more recent. That said, CRTP is still 7-7.5 years from DOFD.

Re: Collection accounts

The governing section is 605(c) of the FCRA.   The DOFD governs.  Take the date of the first delinquency in any chain of delinquencies that led to the CA, add 180 days to that date, and the fallooff date for credit reporting is 7 years from that date.  7 1/2 years from the DOFD.
