Collection from 2003 deleted - score drops???

I got a medical collection that was reporting on all three CRs to finally be deleted from EQ (last one).  The collection was old (2004) so I didn't expect to see much improvement but my score went from 712 to 711.  I know, I know, it's only one point, but why would it go down at all?  With the collection gone, shouldn't it have at least stayed the same if not go up some?  Everything else is exactly the same, except that my most recent late payment went from 4 years and 3 months ago to 4 years and 4 months ago (which is a positive factor, yes?) I'm so confused.

Are there any other collections remaining? If not, you could have been rebucketed.

Nope.  This was the sole collection.  My utilization has been at 1% for two months now, possible that might have something do with it?  Not enough use of credit?

I've read a little about rebucketing on the forum, but what exactly determines when you get rebuckted.  Is it a timing thing?

In this case, you went from having a major derogatory on your reports, to have no major derogs. You are now compared to others in that peer group. Some people initially lose dozens of points upon rebucketing. The scores usually bound higher in a matter of months.

True. Now, I have to figure out how to parlay score monitoring into a money making venture. **scratches head, deep in thought**

Don't feel bad. My last late (90 day) that was impacting my FICO score naturally fell off this week. I knew it would fall off so I pulled my EQ score on 2/28. It fell off the next day or day after and I pulled my score again. My EQ FICO score dropped 17 points.

Don't you feel robbed?  I won't complain about my 1 pt loss anymore.  Sorry about the 17 Smiley Sad.  It just seems so wrong.  Having the collection on my reports was listed as a factor hurting my score, it goes away and my score goes down.  It just seems so wrong doesn't it?  Oh well, we'll get those points back and more right?  Smiley Wink

I'm a little bummed, but I know that my score will be in a better position in a few months once it climbs towards the top of that bucket. Time is on my side, for now anyway.
