I have an item that went to collections, I paid the collection agency in the 30 day grace period that they gave me before it reports on my CR. It reported on my CR today. Called them and they stated that if it was indeed reported in error, they would immediately retract it from my report, so I am just wondering, when it comes off, do I get those lost points back? My score fell 34 points today.... I've gotten alot of old collections removed from my report and have not seen leaps and bounds of point return, this is really stressin me out!
Since having a single late is a fairly big ding, you may not see much score increase until the last late is gone, as the difference between 0 lates and 1 late is bigger than the difference between having N lates and N-plus-one lates.
In my experience, an occasional forgotten payment does not get reported if the amount is paid instaneously upon receipt of a second notice. I have no experience of what happens to an account that goes to third notices or to collections.
