Comment code "AW"?

Hello, I'm with a mortgage lender who has recently been faced with some natural disasters in our area, resulting in some damaged homes and loans in danger.  I have been advised that there is a credit bureau comment code AW which signifies "affected by natural disaster" that I can use for reporting.  However, if our borrower becomes delinquent while we are reporting using this code, is the code of any benefit to their FICO scoring?  (i.e., will it prevent them from being scored negatively due to the extenuating circumastances of the disaster?)  Thank you!
