Hey all finally decide to post on here. Im a bit confused from what I read on here. Most of the people say that transunion.com is not the same transunion from myfico.com. Myfico says 641 and transunion.com states 683. How is that possible? When I compare the two they pretty much state the same thing on the reports. Im a bit confused.
Also is I see people saying transunioncs.com but when you visit that page it brings you to transunion.com. Also is truecredit actually transunion or a third party?
Thanks

Hi Peter and welcome.
It can be very confusing and I will try and help. The TU score you get here at myFICO is a TU FICO score. The scores sold at transunion.com are called VantageScores and are based on a totally different scoring formula than a FICO score. In fact the scoring ranges are also different. VS ranges from 501-990 whereas FICO ranges from 300-850. Both scores use the same information from your reports but as I said they use different formulas to look at the data,
VS's are used by a few lenders but most lenders use a FICO score and that's what we need to focus on. The fact that your TU score from here and the VS were so close is purely coincidental.
In fact there are only a few places left where you can buy true FICO scores. No one has been able to buy their own Experian FICO score since February of 2009. Creditors can pull Experian and also there is a CU (PSECU) in Pennsylvania that supplies that information to it's members only. You can only buy true FICO scores at a few places. One place is here at myFICO. I suggest you do an internet search for "myfico discount codes" to save a little money.
At one time you could also purchase your Transunion score at transunioncs.com but that has not been true for many months. Wal Mart now offers a TU score to those who have their store card and/or Discover.
Equifax will still sell you a FICO score but you have to look very hard to find it. You can get to it here: www.equifax.com/web-myfico-products/.
And of course lenders have accces to all three scores.
Does any of this any some of your concerns? If not keep asking away. There are many people here lots smarter than I am about all this.
From a BK years ago to:
EX - 3/11 pulled by lender- 835, EQ - 2/11-816, TU - 2/11-782
