Confused

every couple of months I pull my credit reports from my fico.  My bank also claims that my experience fico score is 100 points higher than the reports I get from my fico.  My husband and I are ready to buy a house. How do we determine if we would qualify for a mortgage when there is such a large discrepancy.  To add to that my bank also recommended that I use my fico so I wiukd expect them to be relatively similar

From what I have learned. If I am right the best score advice you could get these days would be to buy through Equifax's website www.Equifax.com their Fico score. They sell 3 scores and you want to buy the fico score for I think 19.95. Through EQ their Fico score is EQ(04) I think. Someone else will jump in if I am right or wrong. These days when it comes to a FICO score that is best for Mortages.

For mortgages, the FICO score sold by Equifax (or DCU for EQ or PSECU for EX) are the gold standard: these scores are identical to their respective bureaus on the vast majority if not entirety of mortgages on a tri-merge pull.

 

You want the Score Power product from Equifax: http://www.equifax.com/credit-score/

 

The EX score here is a FICO '08 which isn't used by lenders generally; if this was a tri-merge pull by your lender that says your EX score was 100 points above what was listed here, then that's your mortgage score; however, most places do not provide a FICO score except on an application, and the scores used for credit card and auto approvals are generally not the same as mortgage ones.

 

Regarding using myFICO from your banks recommendation: unfortunately this was an excellent recommendation two months ago; however, myFICO has changed their Equifax version from Beacon 5 (used on mortgages) to Beacon 9 which isn't: in my opinion that advice is outdated these days when it comes to mortgage scores.
