Re: Confusing Score Updates...

When I say that it was reported, I mean that I got alerts on the MYFICO page showing that the cards have reported the new lower balance, but it still hasn't shown any change in my scores. At the end of each update, it shows a + or - score change. My score hasn't budged after most of those lower amounts have been reported.

On the other hand when I had put a large purchase on one of my cards, when the update got reported it showed my score dropped at the time of the reporting.

1.  A balance change on a single card doesn't always give rise to a score change.

2.  The score in the alert is from one of the three bureaus; you don't know what the score is on the other two bureaus.

3.  You don't know when the new balance mentioned in the alert was reported.

4.  You don't know when the score mentioned in the alert was pulled.

What I'm trying to say is that by drawing conclusions from MyFICO alerts you are relying on spotty information.

Half a dozen balance changes have been reported to at least two of the Credit bureaus over the past 3 weeks, yet in that time period, my score on both hasn't moved at all. Not one point.

Re: Confusing Score Updates...

That and also the balance being reported is pretty old. One of my cards had a balance of around $2,300. I paid it down to $800 on the 7th of April. I got an alert today that it had been updated and that the current balance was about $2,300. So even though the card issuer has shown my balance to be $800 for weeks, they are still reporting it as $2,300 to the Credit Bureau???

Re: Confusing Score Updates...

How long after reporting to MyFICO should I expect it to take for the scores to update?

If you're relying on the alerts, forget about it. The only sure way to find out (a) what data changes have reported and (b) what your updated scores are...   is to pull a report, which is an expensive proposition. And the reports are not always equal; sometimes updated info will appear on one or two, but not on the other(s).

That's why I pay more attention to the information in my experian.com account, because there the report is updated daily, virtually in real time. And the 7 or 8 FICO scores they provide are updated daily as well.

You can get free up to date information on what data has reported on TU and EQ by checking Credit Karma, but CK doesn't give you FICO scores and doesn't give you anything about EX.

I can understand your frustration.  Something happened, and you want to know what effect it had ASAP.  I feel the same way. But the reality is that usually you just have to wait.

Re: Confusing Score Updates...

Ok. I am seeing new much higher scores on Vantage and Experian. Experien is showing me back in the 700s.
