Could my score have dropped like this, or is something else going on?

Barclays says my FICO score as of 3/25/15 is 779.    I just got a credit limit increase refused by Chase because they say my FICO score on 5/7/15 was 721.  Both are supposedly from Transunion.   I got my Transunion credit report and found it looks pretty much like all my other credit reports; everything is OK, nothing bad.  Other than applying for a credit card, I have done nothing from 3/25 to 5/7.

So, why did my credit score decline from 779 to 721?  Or, is the FICO score from Barclays not comparable to the FICO score from Chase?

Doesn't Chase use Experian?  There are many FICO scores and each bureau has several based on version and enhancements.

Welcome to the forums!

There is a slew of FICO scores available; while the TU FICO 8 is a pretty good benchmark for the current credit market (except mortgages and auto loans) it's not necessarily exact for any given lender.

Chase uses a mix of different scores, historically even some non-FICO ones (VantageScore for one), but unless it's explicitly stated which, or it can be matched to a known score, it's hard to determine which one.

@CH7 - Chase pulls all 3, EX predominantly but often will do reviews or a pull of a secondary EQ / TU.  Saw them in a few places on my reports though the only HP I have for them is on EX from just over a year ago.

Are you sure the 721 score from Chase isn't a CARS score?
