Credit Alert Dormant Account Shows Activity

Hi Guys,

Has anyone recieved the below alert.  I used my CCCU card to charge some DVDs because I didnt have the cash on me.  I paid the charge immediately (well before the bill broke).  So the new bill showed a zero balance.  Does this have an effect on your score?

Alert: An account that has been inactive for more than 3 months has become recently active

Re: Credit Alert Dormant Account Shows Activity

I got the message wihile I was in the DMP program and one of my accounts was closed after PIF.  The account was idle for new charges for 4 years.

The affect on your scvore would depend on what was going on.  If you maxed the account our it would go down.  if the CL increased or their was a small charge, it might go up.

Re: Credit Alert Dormant Account Shows Activity

After my 30-day late with my Sears MC posted and dropped my scores 50 points, I was so furious with myself that I shoved it in a drawer for 3 1/2 months. When I grudgingly dragged it out and started using it (in preparation for GW'ing), I got the message.

My EQ score dropped 4 points, but it bounced back within a week or so.

I guess that this might be something to consider when sock-drawering cards. Smiley Tongue

Normal message if it is true. Sometimes taken as a warning the user might be in trouble and using old accounts
