Credit History Length

Hey guys, Just checked my latest power score report and noticed I'm 2 months away from my length of history being exactly 7 years. According to my report, my length of history is the only section where I'm in the red. All others are very good. At what point in time will that jump up? It seems as if the 7 year mark may be a good number but at the same time it may be 10 years. Has anyone recently gone through or remember that special number? Thanks!

Re: Credit History Length

A quick question: What is your AAoA (average age of accounts)?

That's interesting as my "Length of History" is only 2 years 8 months ( as of June 11th ) and I am at "Not Good" which is in the orange...

Actually' I'm mistaken. My history is in the orange (not good). My AAoA is 3 years.

Re: Credit History Length

I'm not sure when your length of your credit history (and AAoA) will become "good". Also, I'm not sure how much scoring "buckets" has an affect, if any.

Re: Credit History Length

This is something I've been dying to know too since this is the one section where's really there's nothing we can do. Gotta stick it out. My AAoA is 4 years and I'm also in the orange. Smiley Sad

Re: Credit History Length

FICO High Achievers (760+) on average have a AAoA of 6-12 years. Of course everyone's situation will be different.

I believe my AAoA is about 6 years, 5 months (Averaged across the 3 CRA's).

Re: Credit History Length

My scorewatch only tells me the age of the oldest account. Where do you get your AA of A from? Or are you just calculating it yourself?

Amex PRG. Amex Blue. Amex ED. Cap 1 Quiksilver. Saks Fifth Avenue. Neiman Marcus. Grandin Road. Target Red Card. Barclay Rewards. Home Depot. Paypal BML. Affirm. Victoria's Secret. Care Credit. Lumber Liquidators. Art Van. Evine. Firestone. Discount Tire. Discover IT.

It's on the myFICO credit score reports from TU and EQ but you can calculate AAoA yourself.

Your AAoA is the sum of the ages of every account (except CA collections) on your report, whether open or closed, calculated in months, divided by the number of accounts and then divided by 12. I use the division by 12 to make it easier to convert into years. This is measured from the time each account was opened until present.

You’ll need to figure the age of each account, open or closed, on each report. If all three reports are identical (very unlikely), you're in luck; otherwise, you'll need to run this for each report.

Re: Credit History Length

Myfico EQ shows "length of history" as "not good".  My  aa shows 4 yrs.   Score is 706.

TU shows "length of history"  as "very good".  My aa shows 6 yrs.  Score is 728

The magic number score wise seems to be 6 yrs for me.

My oldest account on  both reports is 18 yrs.
