How long do credit inquiries stay on your credit report? I thought I had read somewhere that inquiries drop off after 12 months. Is this correct?
They stay on for 2 years but are only factored into your credit score for 1 year.
How long do the hard pulls hurt your score? My TU score was 722 but after adding the Citi and Discover it dropped to 709. That's so frustrating to me.

The biggest impact is for 6 months then you should get a little bounce and at 12 months they have no effect on your score.
So my score wont go back up for six months? The strange thing is my Equifax score which had stayed so low for so long finally went up to 722. It hadnt moved since before I bought my house. I bought my score from them and on exiting I was asked to take a survey at which time I mentioned the fact that my score hadnt moved in months. I explained I had bought a house and gotten a Wal-Mart card then the Cit and Discover and the next month my score was up! I was glad of that. I think my low score with equifax must have been a hitch on their part because it never changed until I took that exit survey.
I would doubt the survey would have had any influence on your score being bumped up. If everyone took said survey, then everyone's scores would be all over the place. Score fluctuations will occur based on a variety of factors, thus recovering from an AAoA hit with adding new accounts and recent inquiries does take time and varies by individual and profile.
I just found it strange that my score never moved at all from November of last year. I bought my home in Jan. Got a Wal-mart card in March then the Cit and Discover in Oct. Of course then there is my utilization factors. I always pay in full each month but a few cards reported balances several times and nothing ever made my Equifax score move at all. Nothing. My other scores have always fluctuated somewhat. Then I took the exit survey and in an explanation box I pointed out the fact my score never changed then it finally did...for the better. Regardless of the reason I am glad it finally moved--UP! Yay! Still bummed over the drop in TU though. I'm going to be in the garden for as long as possible. Hopefully 2 years.

Like someone else briefly mentioned, the inquiry isn't the only thing dropping your score. Adding new accounts would most likely reduce your AAoA Everything will rebound back quickly! Congrats on the nice cards though
